Frequently asked questions

Ask for a card in store to start saving stamps. Make sure to bring it to future appointments as for every piercing you get, I will stamp and sign it! Once you’ve received six stamps (for six piercings), you can redeem the full card for a £25 spend towards whatever you fancy. Not bad, eh?

I offer discounts on multiples of the same piercing on the same person, per sitting. E.g. A single standard lip piercing is £40 and a pair is £65; examples with classic plain jewellery. I recommend a maximum of 3 piercings per sitting per person only.

Occasionally, I’ll post additional offers over on my Facebook page @Bejewelled by Spooky – Piercing & Cartilage punching, so make sure you’re following for the latest updates!

I’m proud to use exclusively Phase 1 and 2 verified, DFARS compliant jewellery from trusted industry-only suppliers that truly care about quality. Materials include fully traceable implant grade titanium, pure niobium, 14/18k gold (rose, white and yellow) platinum and glass, to suit a wide range of budgets and styles. All jewellery is guaranteed to last a lifetime against manufacturer defects or workmanship. This means the suppliers stand by the quality of their jewellery, vowing to correct any manufacturing defect; fix or replace.

Many places online will use buzzwords such as ‘hypoallergenic’ ‘tarnish resistant’ ‘waterproof’ to reel you in, but you shouldn’t have to pay for sub-par quality! Please see ‘Jewellery’ tab on the navigation menu for more information about the jewellery I use and what’s covered in the guarantee, your piercings will love you for it!

It’s never a good idea to completely remove jewellery from a piercing that you intend to keep, even for short periods. If jewellery is removed from a healing piercing then the likelihood of it being saved hugely depends on how soon it’s refitted. Book an appointment and have the jewellery re-fitted in the studio as soon as possible. Even established piercings will shrink, making reinsertion difficult later on.

If you need to conceal your piercings for any reason I always recommend utilizing a high quality retainer, which are available for purchase in the studio and can be fitted free of charge.

It depends! The majority of the time placements can be re-pierced without issue. I always recommend booking a consultation in the studio first so I can have a look and feel of the area and discuss any relevant information first to see if it would be viable; such as circumstances for removal and scar tissue present.

Wherever possible, I will always attempt to re-insert jewellery safely rather than re-pierce and cause excess scar tissue in an already compromised area. However, If your piercing has completely closed and healed over and it isn’t possible to gently re-open in the studio, you may opt to have it re-pierced. The cost of re-piercing is the same for me, so the price remains the same.

Downsizing in piercing means to replace bigger diameter/longer jewellery to a better fit, usually once initial piercing swelling has subsided. This prevents piercing complications, such migrating (or slanting) of the jewellery from the original placement; often caused by excessive length/diameter.

Within Modern Man Bargoed, 22-23 High Street, Bargoed, CF81 8RA.

I’m in the studio every Tuesday and Thursday 10am-5pm, plus every last Sunday of the month and always available online for consultations.

Re-piercing costs the same

I do! All of my age restrictions are set in line with insurance and Welsh laws. Please see ‘Restrictions’ drop down tab for more information.

If your piercing was performed by me, installation costs will be wavered and you will only pay for the new jewellery. If you had your piercing performed elsewhere, I charge a flat fee of £5 to cover my disposable tools, plus cost of your new jewellery. Jewellery posts typically start from £10-£12, excluding attachments.

Initial piercing jewellery is usually larger to accommodate the expected swell. Once this swelling subsides, you may find the jewellery to be excessively long and uncomfortable. Leaving this extra length can cause complications such as migration, so it’s important to get your piercing re-sized when required. Some placements may require more than one jewellery change during healing; if this applies to you, I’ll let you know!

For some placements, such as daith and septum, many people stick to the original jewellery size and style without issue.

I specialize in everything piercing related! Please see ‘Services’ tab on the navigation to browse the full range.

Please see ‘Policies’ tab on the navigation menu for more information.

All fresh piercings come with a free aftercare pack! Depending on the placement, you’ll receive NeilMed sterile saline spray, sterile gauze and sterile cotton buds; everything you need to take care of your new shiny! Additional aftercare items (for the same piercing) can be purchased separately from just £8.

Please take the time to read through all important information on my website, including age restrictions, prices and policies. You can request an appointment through my online booking system by clicking the ‘Book Now’ button at the top of the page. For any inquiries, feel free to contact me at your convenience.

Suitability depends on many factors. For example, you could have the ‘ideal’ anatomy for a specific placement, but lifestyle factors could contradict healing and success. Rest assured, when you book a piercing procedure, you will have an anatomy check at the start of the appointment to assess suitability. Wherever I believe a placement wouldn’t be suitable, I will always recommend alternatives.

You will be given an estimated timescale during your initial appointment. For most piercing placements, this is typically between 4-6 weeks after initial piercing, although I recommend shorter 2-3 week intervals for oral piercings (lip/tongue/cheek.) Of course, if anything occurs before the suggested timescale, do let me know and I’ll book you in sooner.

I strongly recommend it! Check up appointments are free and are solely designed to monitor your progress. This is the perfect opportunity to update me on your healing and tweak anything that needs changing. Any jewellery changes/cleanings performed during these appointments are charged separately. There’s no limit on the amount of check up appointments you can book.
